  • Infrastructure planning and dimension

    The infrastructure is the foundation for the railway traffic. It connects people and places and leads the way. A good infrastructure is the basis for the future of the railway. Investing in it is worthwhile, though capital intensive and a long-term liability. In order for you to invest minimal time and money, we advise you based on our investigations, ensuring your achievement of the best possible results. With the help of timetable constructions and operational simulations, we establish which extensions and modifications are profitable for you and your clients. You can make the right decision based on our accurate results. We provide you with several variations and explain their advantages and disadvantages.
  • Timetable construction

    In comparison to road traffic, the major advantage of rail transport is the lack of traffic jams. Consequently, it is even more important for the passenger and freight trains to be on time. Hence, the stability of the timetable is our main focus. The timetable has to be reliable, as passengers plan their journeys based on this data and the industry depends on transports that are on schedule. We therefore simulate the timetable and the operating schedule, while including recurring deviations to reproduce the reality as accurate as possible.

    For your passenger traffic we develop interval timetables and demonstrate possibilities to integrate short-term modifications. We recommend the use of RailSys for their implementation.

  • Signalling systems

    We determine the influences caused by the implementation of ETCS level 1, 2 and 3 or by conversion of stationary signals to ATC technology, while adapting the lengths of block sections. We compare different variants which include the calculation of parameters, e. g. the block occupation times or the minimum headways.

    When planning new railway control centers, the complete interlocking technology of a station is often renewed and economized. We are able to optimise the necessary signalling equipment in consideration of signal locations for trains and shunting, lengths of overlaps or axle-counters.

  • Possession planning

    The railway infrastructure is subjected to a continuous process of maintenance and modernisation. However, the areas that are under construction cannot be cut off the current infrastructure. This requires high standards for the planning of track maintenance and modernisation. Several questions have to be answered: “Full closure of the track or do constructions while trains operate?” or “ Can several constructions be executed at the same time to use closure times to their full capacity?” We can assist you in finding the best solutions due to our experiences and individual calculations. Furthermore, we consider the satisfaction of the involved parties, which ensures a punctual and failure-free arrival of the trains even in times of change.
  • Capacity investigations

    For a maximum utilisation we analyse the capacity of the routes and nodes and counsel you about possible track extensions or a modification of the train operations. We also examine your remaining capacities, which help to sustain punctuality in emergencies or short-term operations.
  • Tram and light rail traffic

    One of the characteristics of tramways is the influence of individual traffic during longer journeys. This also applies to city railways on intersections. Additional standby times occur due to light-signal systems, which could result in delays. Our years of experience enable us to detect the best system for your city and we support you from the first planning steps to the construction of the timetable.
